Dear Parents, Teachers, and Students:

Welcome 2011!! 2011-2012 promises to be an exciting school year. We have a new principal, Ms. Dawn Baglos , and new PTSA President, myself, Milly Delgado. Together we will work to ensure that your child receives the best education possible preparing him/her  to enter college. As your new PTSA President, I would like to encourage you to become a member of this great organization. You and your child can become members and join the special group who strives to make a difference. Your membership is the voice that says, “I am here and I care”. Whether you have time to volunteer or not, by becoming a member you are represented at the County, State, and National Level. Our legislators know that PTA is the largest parent/ student organization and when PTA goes to Tallahassee or Washington, DC, legislators listed because of the number of members PTA represents. Become a Voice with your membership!  With your help we will be able to surpass last year’s membership numbers.

As a member you will receive email notifications of school and PTSA events. PTSA general meetings alternate between morning and evenings to ensure that working parents can still attend this important meeting. During meetings we will have reports from the administration, Activities Director, college advisor, EESAC chair, and PTA board. Would you like to get more involved? PTSA offers volunteer opportunities for parents and students who are interested in education as well as fundraising.  Students receive volunteer hours when they help with PTSA events. PTSA also offers leadership opportunities through your participation and leading committees. Expand your network, get to know other people in the neighborhood, these are some of the added benefits of being involved with PTSA.

What is new this year? Our goal is …

  • To support and assist teachers and staff in developing the skills or enhancing the academic experience needed for our children to become successful citizens of our society.  In 2010 – 2011 PTSA awarded $12,500 in teacher grants
  • Continue raising funds to support graduating seniors with college scholarships. In 2010 -2011 PTSA awarded 20 scholarships consisting of laptops or Barnes & Noble gift cards for book purchases to graduating seniors attending college. $24,000
  • Donation Program – with the budget constraint all our public schools are facing, PTSA introduced a program that allows parents or members of the community to donate funds to help support our programs. The largest item we would like to start raising funds for is an Electronic Marquee out on Ives Dairy Road that will be used for many years to come!!

Our mission can only be accomplished with your help! With your support KROP-PTSA will raise the necessary funds to assist students and teachers.
